Middle Island Challenge 2025

Randall Arthur has once again showcased his dedication and perseverance by completing the first open water swim race of the season - the 3.8km course around Middle Island on 5th May. He found the conditions slightly tougher than last year, but Randall pushed through, finishing with a good time and solid placement in his category.

This year, he had the added support of his loyal dogs and his wife Shelia cheering him on from the shore! He followed the Middle Island Challenge with the first of 6 sunset races at the VRC on 8th May. While being a shorter 1.3km course, Randall found the last few hundred meters tough going as he had a nasty encounter with a very large jellyfish, reminding him that open water swimmers have to share the ocean iwth marine life, after all it is their home and we must respect them. Randall hopes the jellyfish is ok. He has recovered and is looking forward to the next sunset race on 22nd May.

His commitment is truly inspiring for all of us in the office. We're eagerly looking forward to following his journey throughout the rest of the swim series this year!

2nd Discovery Bay Open Water Race Challenge

We are so inspired by Randall Arthur, who took part in the open water race challenge in Discovery Bay this weekend and swam 3.8km in an impressive 1.47:57.6 minutes. He was 15th in his age group category and came in 2 minutes faster than last year!

Open water swimming has amazing health benefits as well as being an endurance challenge. The benefits include boosting your mood and improving your quality of sleep. It also enhances your immune function and cardiovascular health.

This just goes to show what the power of endurance and the mind can achieve!
